COMPUTER HARDWARE INSTALLATIONS
So, you are just about ready to have all of that shiny new business technology equipment installed that you purchased, right?
It’s the easy tasks that cause complications.
I trust you can figure it out on your own, but experienced industry experts of any trade or profession always have tips to save us all from jumping over a few hurdles.
How you got to this point matters less now, for the purposes of this post.
Whether you ordered drop-shipping and your internal team is doing the installation, or have an IT Partner that you outsourced this to solely for the labor, or a Channel Partner that purchases, delivers, and installs. Things should be done in a certain type of way. Periodttt.
These best practices are simple, just not always thought about. These best practices originated from common sense.
These not-so-earth-shattering considerations you are about to read aim to save you from unnecessary setbacks and hiccups in what should be a painless ending to your IT project before opening your facility up for staff occupancy!
Before Embarking On Any Install Project:

- Consider the benefit of pre-installation. Installation prep consists of unboxing and assembling what can be pre-assembled before installation day, so any issues with the order and parts get caught ahead of time. It also makes for a cleaner, quicker, and much smoother install day for everyone.
- So, your equipment is ready to be installed, but your facility needs painting, spackling, or might even still need office furniture or grommet holes… Why install all of that lovely new equipment prematurely, to have dust-covered new equipment for your team – messy chords everywhere if installed before the furniture? It happens more than you would think. The computer and IT equipment installations should be dang-near one of the last things done before the workspace or building is occupied. Keep that equipment nice and new for as long as possible.
- Accuracy of floorplans can expire, and things can change, for new buildings and larger installation projects, especially. Require a walkthrough to cross-check before any installing occurs. Avoid any unnecessary de-installation, which may or may not be done free of charge, depending on your IT partner.
